Tia-Clair Toomey teamed up with Joanna Wietrzyk to win first place in the Women’s Pro Doubles division at HYROX Houston 2025. The pair finished the race in 54 minutes and 24 seconds taking the top spot in the 16-29 age group.
This win marks Toomey’s third HYROX event. She earlier took part in the Mixed Doubles category with James Newbury, another CrossFitter from Australia. They came in third at HYROX Melbourne 2024 clocking 55:48. The duo stepped up their game at HYROX Brisbane 2025 grabbing second place with a time of 54:11.
Toomey’s choice to team up with Wietrzyk, an emerging talent in the HYROX scene, shows her drive to succeed in this fast-growing sport. Wietrzyk has already earned a spot in the World Championship for elite singles and joined PRVN, the coaching Toomey started with her husband, Shane Orr.
As the fitness scene changes, Toomey’s involvement in HYROX points to a wider shift of CrossFit athletes trying out new competition arenas. Given her recent wins, fans and other competitors are keen to see what she’ll do next, whether she keeps ruling HYROX, goes back to the CrossFit Games, or takes on other fitness challenges.
