This past weekend, the HYROX Brisbane event was on fire, and guess who stole the spotlight? Our CrossFit queen, Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr, teamed up with fellow Aussie powerhouse James Newbury, and they absolutely crushed it! Tia and James took on the Mixed Doubles division and snagged a stellar second place with a blazing time of 54:11. This isn’t their first rodeo; they shaved off a solid 1:37 from their previous HYROX Melbourne time.

The top spot was claimed by the fierce duo of Hunter McIntyre and Joanna Wietrzyk, who clocked in at 51:20. But Tia and James were hot on their heels, showing everyone that CrossFit champs can hang with the best in the HYROX world. Tia and James showed mad skills, especially in the later stages of the race. They dominated the Wall Balls and Sandbag Lunges, making up some serious time. Their performance is now ranked among the top 20 fastest Mixed Doubles times ever.

Whats Next for Tia-Clair Toomey?
With this momentum, all eyes are on Tia and James as they prepare for the 2025 HYROX World Championships in Chicago this June. Given their rapid improvement, they’re definitely ones to watch.
